Who is Renée Marie?

Welcome to new school pop groove. If you’ve never been heard about this vibe, here are your cliff notes. I’m Renee Marie, born in sunny San Diego, California. My family is mostly Sicilian, and yes, my dad does make the best pasta in the world. I grew up with music all around me, mom was a clarinet player, who thought it was only correct to throw my brother and I into violin lessons. To her dismay, neither of us were gifted in strings. As I marched around, belting out High School Musical tunes, she realized I was put in the wrong music class. I started with a vocal coach, which led me to audition for a Performing Arts High School. I spent all four years in choir singing whatever Italian art songs were tossed my way. Instead of taking the traditional college route, I decided to take some time off school to discover my own sound. Thus, new school pop groove was born. Everyday I continue to expand my sound by experimenting with beats and jazzy chord structures. Next time, whether you’re in the mood to take it down a notch, or even get a little hyped, try out this new school funk. Hope to see myself in your Spotify playlists.
